Hippo Baby Card

This is an adorable baby card to make for anyone.  I love this little hippo die from Sizzix and I have used it for many different baby cards.

To create this card, you just need a few things:

  • Light Pink card stock (Bazzill Paper)
  • Smokey Slate card stock (Stampin’ Up)
  • White card stock
  • 2186013 Floral on Brick designer series paper (The Paper Studio)
  • N061 Twinkle Poem Stamp (Stampendous! Stamps)
  • Medium Hippo die (retired Sizzix)
  • Paper trimmer
  • Adhesive of choice
  • Pop dots

From the light pink card stock cut a card base to 5 ½” x 8 ½” and folded it in half, a second piece to 2 1/2” x 3 ½” and a label piece to 7/8” x 1 3/8”.  Then from the Smokey Slate card stock cut two pieces to 4” x 5 ¼”, another to 2 3/8” x 3 3/8” and a label to 1” x 1 ½”.  From white card stock cut a piece for the inside of your card to 3 7/8” x 5 1/8”.  Take the Floral on Brick designer series paper and cut a piece to 3 7/8” x 5 1/8” and another to 2 ¼” x 3 ¼”.

From a spare piece of Smokey Slate use the medium Hippo die to cut out two of the hippos and then a small piece of the pink card stock cut four of the little hearts.

Take your pink card base and one of the Smokey Slate bases and adhere to the front of the card and then adhere the Floral on Brink piece to the front of that.  Then take the medium size light pink piece and adhere the medium sized Smokey Slate piece to it and then the Floral on Brick piece to that.  Use pop dots to adhere the hippo to the top of the Floral on Brick piece and adhere one of the small hearts to the hippos behind.  Adhere the whole piece to the front of your card front leaving an even amount of space on three sides.

Take your Smokey Slate label piece and the light pink label piece and adhere together.  With your “baby” greeting stamp and the Smokey Slate ink and stamp onto the label.  Adhere the label to the lower right corner of your card front.

For the inside of your card take your Smokey Slate piece for the inside and the white card stock and adhere together.  Grab your Smokey Slate ink and the “Twinkle Poem” stamp and stamp in the upper portion of the white piece.  Take the second hippo you cut and cut it into half and adhere to the right lower portion of the white card stock.  Adhere a heart on the hippo and the other two around your Twinkle Poem.  Adhere to the inside of your card.

You have an adorable baby card you have made for someone expecting and can be used for a boy, girl or unknown baby-to-be.
