Plaid Vintage Leaves Father’s Day Card

This is a great easy card that is a great guy card.  I made this card for my dad for Father’s Day, but it would also be a good card for anything.

To create this card, you just need a few things:

  • Cajan Craze card stock (Stampin’ Up)
  • Natural Beige card stock (Stampin’ Up)
  • Timeless Plaid DSP designer series paper
  • Vintage Leaves dies (Retired Stampin Up)
  • The Wilderness Awaits (Retired Stampin’ Up)
  • Going Global (Retired Stampin’ Up)
  • Cajan Craze ink (Stampin’ Up)
  • Baker’s Twine (Stampin’ Up)
  • Paper trimmer
  • Adhesive of choice
  • Pop dots

With your Cajan Craze card stock cut a piece to 5 ½” x 8 ½”, folded in half to 4 ¼” x 5 ½”.  Cut another piece to 3 ¾” x 5”.  Take the Cajan Craze colored plaid paper from the Timeless Plaid designer series paper pack, cut a piece to 4” x 5 ¼”, use the strip you cut off the bottom of that and cut a piece to ¾” x 3 ¾”.  With your Natural Beige card stock cut a piece to 3 ¾” x 5” for your card inside.

From your Vintage Leaves dies, take the oak leaf die and cut a leave out of the remaining Timeless Plaid designer series paper and then take the 3 ¾” x 5” piece of Cajan Craze your cut and use the leaf die to cut out a leave to the left hand side.

Adhere the 4” x 5 ¼” piece of Timeless Plaid designer series paper and adhere it to the front of your card.  Then adhere your piece of Cajan Craze with the leaf cut out to the front of the plaid.  Use pop dots to adhere the plaid leaf to the right of the cut-out leaf.  Take a small scrap piece of Natural Beige card stock and the “You mean the world to me” stamp from the Going Global stamp set and stamp with the Cajan Craze.  I just cut the tag out by hand by making the top pointed and then just angled each bottom corner, but of course you could use a tag die to cut this out.  Tie a bow with the Baker’s Twine and adhere to the top of your tag.

For the inside of the card I actually ended up using two different stamps to say what I wanted, the “admired, respected, loved…that’s you” from The Wilderness Awaits” stamp set and then a “Happy Father’s Day” which is a single wood block stamp that I am not sure where it is from.  Stamp these stamps in Cajan Craze and adhere the plaid strip to the bottom and adhere to the inside of your card.

I think any guy would love to get this card.

With the oval dotted die from the Impressions Abloom dies and the Petal Pink piece you cut to 3 ½” x 4 ¾” and cut the oval out of the center.

Take a spare piece of white card stock, your Black StazOn in and the large tulips stamp from the Mixed Florals set and stamp.  With your Stampin’ Blends use the light Petal Pink to color the tulips and then the dark to highlight.  Use the Granny Apple Green to color the stems and leaves and the Calypso Coral to color the small flowers.  Use the die to cut out the colored image.  Take your piece of Granny Apple green paper and cut out two of the large leaves background with the die from the Mixed Florals dies.

Find your designer series paper piece you cut and adhere it to the front of your Petal Pink card base.  Take the frame you cut the oval from and insert the dotted oval you cut into the center as you are going to use both pieces.  Arrange the tulips in your oval window where you like it making sure it all fits within the card size and adhere the bottom of the tulips to the back of your oval.  Then arrange and adhere the two grass cut-outs behind the tulips to your liking, again making sure it all fits within your card size, and adhere those to the back of the oval piece as well.  Now adhere your oval piece to the front of your card.

With a spare piece of white card stock stamp the “For a great friend” greeting and cut out with the medium label die in the Mixed Labels dies.  Adhere to the lower left of your card front with pop dots to set it up a bit to stand out.

For the inside take the white card stock piece you cut and stamp the “Just a not to let you know you’re on my mind” greeting from the Mixed Labels stamp set with the Black StazOn ink toward the top and then the dainty flower stamp in the lower left corner.  Use your Calypso Coral Light Stampin’ Blends to color in the flowers and your Granny Apple Green Dark Stampin’s Blends to outline the stems.  Adhere to the inside of your card.

Book Binding Textured Chic Painted Posies Card

I like the style of the book binding fold cards and the Textured Chic designer series paper from Stampin’ Up is one of my favorite packs of paper.  The Painted Posies embossing folder is really pretty as well, so I used some of the white core card stock and then sanded it down a bit so that the embossed outline is white on the petal pink paper and then just colored in the flowers.

To create this card, you just need a few things:

  • Petal Pink card stock (Stampin’ Up)
  • Petal Pink white core card stock (Stampin’ Up)
  • Textured Chic designer series paper (Stampin’ Up)
  • Painted Posies 3D Embossing Folder (Stampin’ Up)
  • Magnolia Mood stamp set (Stampin’ Up)
  • Petal Pink ink (Stampin’ Up)
  • Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends – Dark (Stampin’ Up)
  • Gold Ribbon – Shimmer Ribbon (Stampin’ Up)
  • Brushed Brass Butterflies embellishments (Stampin’ Up)
  • Scoring board or paper trimmer scoring blade
  • Paper trimmer
  • Adhesive of choice

With a piece of Petal Pink card stock, cut a piece to 4 ¼” x 11” and score at 4 ¼” and 5 ½”.  From the Petal Pink white core card stock cut two pieces to 3 ¾” x 3 ¾”.  From the Texture Chic designer series paper pack, find the piece that is pink and orange with the diagonal design, cut two pieces to 4” x 4” and a third to 1” x 4”.

Take one of your 3 ¾” x 3 ¾” Petal Pink white core pieces and emboss with the Painted Posies 3D embossing folder.  With your Petal Pink Dark Stampin’ Blends market color in the flowers.  Use a sanding block (nail sanding blocks work well) and sand over the top to show the white core of the embossed design.   Add three of the brass butterflies around the embossed design.

Use adhesive, I would probably recommend glue, to adhere the 1 ¼” binding to the back of the card.  Cut two pieces of ribbon and cross in the middle and adhere to each end of the 1” x 4” designer series paper piece.  Adhere that to the front of the book binding part of the card.  Adhere the embossed piece to one of the 4” x 4” designer series paper pieces and then adhere that to the front of your card.

Use the “Happy Birthday” stamp from the Magnolia Mood stamp set and stamp on the other piece of Petal Pink white core card stock.  Adhere that to the other piece of designer series paper and adhere that to the inside of your card.

That gives you this pretty book binding birthday card.

Wildflower Birthday 40th Card

I made this pretty card for a friend of mine who was turning 40.  It uses the Wildflower Birthday designer series paper and cut outs and while there are a lot of layers it is just some cutting and assembly so it is really easy to make.

To create this card, you just need a few things:

  • Blueberry Bushel Card Stock
  • Pretty in Pink card stock
  • White card stock
  • Wildflower Birthday designer series paper and cut outs
  • Blueberry Bushel ink
  • Birthday stamp (random die I have had for a long time and not from a specific set)
  • Layered Number Dies (old school Sizzix dies)
  • Tag Die
  • Paper trimmer
  • Adhesive of choice
  • Pop dots

For your card base take a piece of Blueberry Bushel paper and cut to 5 ½” x 8 ½” and fold in half to 4 ¼” x 5 ½”.  Cut another piece to 2 ¾” x 4”.  With your Pretty in Pink card stock cut a piece to 4 1/8” x 5 3/8”, one to 4” x 5 ¼” for the inside and then one to 2 5/8” x 3 7/8”.  Now grab your Wildflower Birthday paper pack and find the floral piece with the light blue background and also the angled stripe piece. Cut the light blue floral piece to 4” x 5 ¼” and the stripes piece to 2 ½” x 3 ¾”.

Take the large piece of Pretty in Pink and adhere the light blue floral piece to it and adhere that to the front of your card.  Then build the second layer by adhering the striped piece to the Pretty in Pink and that to the Blueberry Bushel and then adhere that to the center of the front of your card.  Take some spare pieces of Blueberry Bushel and Pretty in Pink card stock and cut your “40”.  From the Wildflower Birthday pack find the cut outs page and take the large pink tiered cake and one of the medium pink flowers.  Put pop dots on the back of the cake and adhere to the center of the striped paper.  Put pop dots on the back of your layered “40” and adhere those in the lower left corner and then pop dot the flower and adhere to the lower right side.

For the inside of the card adhere your white card stock piece to the Pretty in Pink piece and adhere to the inside of your card.  Find the two large floral corner cut outs from the Wildflower Birthday pack and adhere in the upper left and lower right corners.  With a scrap piece of Pretty in Pink card stock and your Blueberry Bushel ink, stamp your “Birthday Wishes” and cut out with a label die and layer some Blueberry Bushel behind that.  Adhere with your flowers in the upper left corner.

This is just an adorable birthday card and really easy to make, just takes a little time to cut the layers but otherwise it is just building it up with the cut outs that are all ready to go.

Inked Botanicals Sectional Birthday Card

This card started out being completely different that where it ended up, I had seen a reverse step card and was trying to make it but didn’t like the way it laid so I took it back apart and used everything but the card base.  So now we have what I am calling this card the Inked Botanicals Sectional Card.  This paper is just so beautiful, I actually didn’t even know I had it but found it in a stack I hadn’t touched in a while so had to use it.

To create this card, you just need a few things:

  • Watermelon Wonder card stock (Retired Stampin’ Up)
  • Verry Vanilla card stock (Stampin’ Up)
  • Inked Botanicals designer series paper (Stampin’ Up)
  • With you In Mind stamp set
  • Thoughtful Expressions stamp set
  • Watermelon Wonder ink (Stampin’ Up)
  • Very Vanilla twine (Stampin’ Up)
  • Paper trimmer
  • Scissors
  • Adhesive of choice

Cut a card base from the Watermelon Wonder card stock to 4 ¼” x 11”, folded in half to 4 ¼” x 5 ½”.  With your Very Vanilla card stock cut an inside piece to 4” x 5 ¼” and another piece to 1” x 4” and another to 1 ½” x 3 ¼”.  Take you Inked Botanicals paper and find the dainty floral multicolor piece and the multicolor flowers with stems.  With the dainty floral piece cut a two piece to 1 ¾” x 4”.  With the flowers with stems piece cut a piece to 2 5/8” x 4”.

With your With You In Mind stamp set and your Watermelon Wonder ink stamp the “Happy Birthday” greeting onto the 1 ½” x 3 ¼” Very Vanilla piece.  From the Thoughtful Expressions stamp set use the “enjoy your day” greeting and stamp onto the 1” x 4” piece lightly to the right.  Take a spare piece of the large floral paper and hand cut out two of the flowers.  Adhere one to the left side of the “enjoy your day” greeting.

Now take your card base and adhere the “enjoy your day piece to the bottom.  Then adhere the dainty floral paper to the top of the card, and then the “Happy Birthday” piece to the center of the dainty floral paper.  Now take your larger floral paper and adhere in the middle of the others.  Take your vanilla twine and wrap around your card twice and tie into a bow.  Align this toward the top of your large floral paper.

For the inside, adhere your Very Vanilla piece to the inside of your card.  Then adhere the dainty floral piece toward the bottom, leaving a little bit of the Very Vanilla at the bottom.  Take the other flower you cut out and adhere that to the left with most of the stem on the dainty floral paper but the flower on your Very Vanilla.

That is all there is to this Inked Botanicals sectional birthday card.

Nests of Winter Cardinal Thank You Card

With my love of birds, this Nets of Winter paper was a must have.

To create this card, you just need a few things:

  • Grey Granite card stock (Stampin’ Up)
  • White card stock
  • Nests of Winter designer series paper (Stampin’ Up)
  • Winterly Tree Tops stamp set (Stampin’ Up)
  • Cherry Cobbler ink pad (Stampin’ Up)
  • Paper trimmer
  • Adhesive of choice
  • Pop-Dots

Cut a piece of Grey Granite card stock to 5 ½” x 8 ½” and fold in half to 4 ¼” x 5 ½” and cut another piece to 3” x 3 ¾”.  With your white card stock cut a piece to 4 1/8” x 5 3/8”, one to 4” x 5 ¼ and another to 2 ¾” x 3 ½”.  Now take your Nests of Winter designer series paper and find the piece with the white birch design and cut a piece to 4” x 5 ¼”.  Find the piece of Nest of Winter designer series paper that has the pair of cardinals on it and cut them out.

Take the piece of white card stock you cut to 2 ¾” x 3 ½” and your Cherry Cobbler link and either wipe the edges across the top of your ink pad or take a tiny piece of sponge dabbed in ink and rubbed across the edges.  This colors the edge with the red ink to make it stand out.  Do the same with the white card stock cut to 4 1/8” x 5 3/8”.   Find the “Thank you for your kindness” stamp from the Winterly Tree Tops stamp set and with your Cherry Cobbler ink stamp that about ½” up from the bottom on the 2 ¾” x 3 ½” piece of white card stock with the red edges.  Take your cut out cardinals and adhere pop dots to the back and adhere above your stamped greeting.  Adhere that to the 2 ¾” x 3 ½” piece of grey granite.

Now take your Grey Granite card base and adhere the 4 1/8” x 5 3/8” piece of white card stock with the red edges and center on the front.  Then adhere the white birch piece to that.  Take your piece with the cardinals and greeting and put pop dots on the back and adhere to the front of the white birch paper on the front of your card base.  Use the 4” x 5 ¼” piece for the inside of the card.

Simply Elegant Black and Copper Anniversary Card

This beautiful paper has been waiting to get used and this seemed like the perfect design to use it on.  It is really easy but also elegant.

To create this card, you just need a few things:

  • Basic Black card stock
  • Copper Metallic card stock (Stampin’ Up)
  • Light gray card stock
  • Simply Elegant designer series paper (Stampin’ Up)
  • Memorable Blooms stamp set (Stampin’ Up)
  • Happy Anniversary stamp
  • Jet Black StazOn ink or Basic Black ink (Stampin’ Up)
  • Paper trimmer
  • Adhesive of choice

For your card base take your Basic Black card stock and cut a piece to 5 ½” x 8 ½” and fold in half to 4 ¼” x 8 ½”.  With the Copper Metallic card stock cut a piece to 4” x 5 ¼”.  From the Simply Elegant designer series paper find the floral black and copper piece and cut a piece to 3 ¾” x 4 ½” and cut it on the diagonal from the left corner to the lower right corner.  Cut another piece to 1 ½” x 4”.  With the light gray card stock cut a piece to 4” x 5 ¼”.

Take your Basic Black card base and adhere the copper piece to the front panel  Align your diagonal pieces and adhere in each corner.  Adhere the light gray piece to the inside and the copper floral strip to the bottom.

With your Memorable Blooms stamp set find the greeting that says “You mean the world to me” and stamp that with the black in centered in the angle on the front of your card.  NOTE:  If you have Jet Black StazOn in I would suggest that as it will dry faster, the Basic Black was slow to dry on the copper.  The other suggestion is to be careful when stamping on the copper as it is slippery and your stamp could slide.

With your black ink stamp Happy Anniversary on the upper portion of the light gray card stock on the inside of your card.

This is a nice anniversary card for anyone, as with the colors could be masculine enough even though it is floral.
