Tulip Birthday Card

I went old school with this one, this is the first stamp set I ever bought from Stampin’ Up almost 20 years ago.  I decided to get it out and make a card today.  Unfortunately, it is so old that it doesn’t have a label anymore so I don’t know the name of the set, but it is beautiful just the same.

To create this card, you just need a few things:

  • Strawberry Slush card stock (Stampin’ Up)
  • Melon Mambo card stock (Stampin’ Up)
  • White card stock
  • Tulip stamps (Retired Stampin’ Up set but I don’t know the name)
  • Happy Birthday and Inside birthday greeting stamps (Retired Stampin’ Up but also don’t know from what set)
  • Strawberry Slush and Pretty and Pink Gems (Stampin’ Up)
  • Strawberry Slush ink (Stampin’ Up)
  • Old Olive ink (Stampin’ Up)
  • Mini Corrugated 3D Embossing Folder or an old-style corrugator
  • Paper trimmer
  • Adhesive of choice

With your Strawberry Slush card stock cut a card base to 5 ½” x 8 ½” and fold in half to 4 ¼” x 5 ½”.  From your Melon Mambo or another piece of Strawberry Slush, cut a piece to 3 ¾” x 4 ½”.  From your white card stock cut a piece to 4” x 6”, one to 3 ½” x 4 ¼” and a third piece to 4” x 5 ¼”.  Take the 4” x 6” piece and corrugate with either an embossing folder and a corrugator and then cut to 4” x 5 ¼”.

Gather your 3 ½” x 4 ¼” piece of white card stock, your tulip stamp set and your Strawberry Slush and Old Olive inks.  Start with the outside outline tulip stamp and stamp that in Strawberry Slush three times, arranging at different levels to the left side of the card stock.  Then with the fuller tulip stamp, stamp off (stamp once on scrap paper) and then stamp to the inside of the first stamp to form your tulips.  Then with your Old Olive ink stamp three stems and leaves as you like.  Then stamp your “happy birthday” greeting to the lower right.

Adhere your white corrugated piece to the front of your card base.  Then center the Melon Mambo (or Strawberry Slush) piece and then your stamped piece on top of the Melon Mambo.  Then take your Strawberry Slush larger size embellishments and adhere three in a row in the upper right corner of your stamped piece.

For your inside piece, stamp another tulip in the lower right corner and your birthday greeting of choice in the upper center.  Adhere to the inside of your card.

There is my old school tulip birthday card.

Flowering Fields Orange Tulips Card

I am loving this Flowering Fields designer series paper from Stampin’ Up.  I have had it for a few years and am just using it recently, and not sure why as I am really enjoying it, making me in the mood for Spring.

To create this card, you just need a few things:

  • Pumpkin Pie card stock (Stampin’ Up)
  • White card stock
  • Flowering Fields designer series paper (Stampin’ Up)
  • With You In Mind stamp set (Stampin’ Up)
  • Circle dies (Stampin’ Up)
  • Party Dots embellishments (Stampin’ Up)
  • Pumpkin Pie ink
  • Scoring board or scoring blade for you paper trimmer
  • Paper trimmer
  • Adhesive of choice
  • Pop dots

Grab a piece of Pumpkin Pie card stock and cut a piece to 4 ¼” x 9 ¾” and score at 4 ¼” on the long edge, then fold to make your card base.  Cut another piece to 1 ¼” x 4 ¼”.  Now with your white card stock cut a piece to 4 1/8” x 5 3/8” for the inside of your card, a piece to 4 1/8” x 4 1/8” for your card front and another to 1 3/8” x 4 ¼”.  With your Flowering Fields designer series paper, find the orange tulip piece and cut a piece to 4” x 4” from the front of your card and a piece to 1 ½ x 4 ¼” for the right side of the inside of your card flipped over to the back side with the orange florets.

With a decorative circle die that measures about 2 5/8” cut one from Pumpkin Pie card stock.  With a circle die the next size down cut a white circle.  Take the “Thank You” greeting stamp from the With You In Mind stamp set and stamp that into the center of your white circle with Pumpkin Pie ink.  Adhere the white circle to the orange circle.

Take your inside white card stock piece you cut to 4 3/8” x 5 3/8” and adhere the orange floret piece to the right side.  Then take the “You are Awesome!” greeting stamp from the Memorable Blooms stamp set and stamp that into the center of the remaining white section of the inside piece, then adhere that to the inside of your card with the orange floret paper hanging out from the front of your card.

Now adhere the orange tulip 4” x 4” paper to the white 4 1/8” x 4 1/8” and then adhere that to the front of your card.  Then take the Pumpkin Pie strip and adhere to the white strip and then adhere that to the lower portion of your card.  Adhere your circle to the left side of your strip with pop dots.

This card was so quick and easy to make and who wouldn’t love to get this as a Thank You for something special they did for you.
