Vintage Valentine Canoe Be My Valentine Card

Going a bit old school with the Vintage Valentine stamp set from Stampin’ Up which has been retired for about 20 years, but still my favorites for Valentines Day cards.

To create this card, you just need a few things:

  • Real Red card stock (Stampin’ Up)
  • Very Vanilla card stock (Stampin’ Up)
  • Cream and Red polka dot designer series paper (?)
  • Vintage Valentine stamp set (Retired Stampin’ Up)
  • Love is in the Air stamp set (Retired Stampin’ Up)
  • Wonderfully Worn background stamp (Retired Stampin’ Up)
  • Layered rectangle dies (Sizzix)
  • Heart Dies (?)
  • Real Red ink (Stampin’ Up)
  • Jet Black Staz On ink (Stampin’ Up)
  • Antique Linen Distress ink (Tim Holtz)
  • Stampin’ Blends Markers
    • Real Red Stampin’ Blends Markers – Light and Dark (Stampin’ Up)
    • Gray Granite Stampin’ Blends Markers – Light and Dark (Stampin’ Up)
    • Boho Blue Stampin’ Blends Markers – Light (Stampin’ Up)
    • Pecan Pie Stampin’ Blends Markers – Light (Stampin’ Up)
  • Crimper or Crimper Embossing Folder
  • Paper trimmer
  • Adhesive of choice

Create a card base with a piece of Real Red card stock by cutting to 5 ½” x 8 ½” and folding in half to 4 ¼” x 5 ½”.  Cut a second piece to 3 ¼” x 4 ¼”.  From Very Vanilla card stock cut two pieces to 3 7/8” x 5 ¼”.  The with the polka dot paper cut a piece to 3” x 4”.

Take a spare piece of Very Vanilla and stamp the “Canoe be my Valentine” greeting and stamp in Jet Black Staz On ink.  Color the base of the canoe with the light Gray Granite Stampin’ Blends marker and the to edge of the canoe with the dark Gray Granite Stampin’ Blends marker.  Color the dress of the girl in the Real Red dark Stampin’ Blends marker and the middle heart, then color the other two hearts in the Real Red dark Stampin’ Blends marker.  Outline the water in Boho Blue light and color the hair in Pecan Pie light.

Then use the smaller of the rectangle dies to cut out your image and the small heart die to cut out one from Very Vanilla.  Cut out the larger rectangle from Real Red card stock along with one heart out of the larger of the heart dies.

Take one of your Very Vanilla piece you cut to 3 7/8” x 5 ¼” and with your Antique Linen ink and your Wonderfully Worn background stamp and stamp.  Then run through your crimper or emboss with the crimper embossing folder.

Adhere your crimped piece to the front of your card base.  Then adhere your Real Red layer centered on the crimped piece and the polka dot paper to that.  Adhere your rectangles together and then adhere those to the front of the polka dot paper.  Arrange and adhere the two hearts in the lower left corner of the front of your card with them overlapping.

For the inside adhere the other piece of Very Vanilla card stock and then stamp the “Happy Valentine’s Day” greeting in Real Red ink on the upper center.

What an adorable Valentine card for anyone you care about.
